West Malling, with its rich history dating back to the medieval period, has seen various residential developments and retains several historical buildings. 

St. Mary's Church, located in the town center, is one of West Malling's most significant historical buildings. Dating back to the 12th century, the church features Norman and Gothic architectural elements and serves as a focal point for the community.

The Old Vicarage, a Georgian-era building located near St. Mary's Church, is a prominent landmark in West Malling. It is a Grade II listed building and has historical and architectural significance.

In the 20th century, West Malling saw continued residential growth, with the development of housing estates to accommodate a growing population. This period witnessed the construction of semi-detached and detached houses, as well as the conversion of older buildings into residential properties.

In recent years, there may have been some modern residential developments in and around West Malling, but the town has largely retained its historic character, with new developments being sympathetic to the traditional architecture of the area contributing to its unique character and appeal as a historic market town in Kent.
